The Himalayas,
I have been to some remote places, not Nepal, but I have been to places in Afghanistan where white men had never been seen before, there is a purity in these places, that cant be easily described.

This is the speech President Richard Nixon was prepared to give in case Apollo 11 did not safely return.
Luckily, it was never needed. RIP Neil Armstrong.
Negotiating for Legos
It’s Saturday coffee time. I call this my “Navy” mug, though I got it from a guy in the Coast Guard, and I dont think it was from the ship. I was complaining about thin walled mugs not keeping things hot, and he just showed up with it one day. He said, “you have to ask a guy who stands on the bridge for nine hours with a cup.”
Thanks Mike
I like nice things
Pushbike stuff Embrocations, hydration etc. I seem to be on a grassroots push these days, with Mad Alchemy and Skratch labs, but there’s no way around it just working. Im a long way from being an elite cyclist nowdays so I need all the help I can get.

Reminders of Armyisms
The Army, especially above the company level is such a dysfunctional animal as far as staffing and resourcing goes. I often wonder how we get anything done that requires coordination at those levels. From what I see, it seems that some rep at the company level tends to step up and handle the coordinations, because no organization on Earth subscribes more stringently to the “Peter principle” than the United States Army.
So often it goes completely unnoticed and unrewarded. I love my war fighting job. I hate my admin job.
Two weeks in the woods
It blows my mind how bad the Army is at integrating communications between adjacent units, or even same unit staff sections.
Starting the morning
It should be 107 degrees today, and the 73rd day over 100 this summer. I figure I need to take advantage of the relative cool before all that hits, so Im enjoying my coffee, and my dog, out here while its only 93.

I feel dehydrated today, but I think its an effect of allergies, and allergy medicine more than really being dehydrated, but my eyes feel dry and puffy, and I absolutely HATE that feeling.
I love the sound of my Son's laugh...
He just started laughing at something my daughter said, and even when sick, he is absolutely addictive.
New Year, New Day
This is looking to be a pretty good year.
